Verify a StatsPlease analysis
Every analysis StatsPlease runs is issued a unique verification code, printed with the results. Enter a code from a manuscript to confirm the statistics were computed by StatsPlease and to see the values recorded when the code was issued.
What a verified code proves
A verified code confirms that the analysis exists in StatsPlease's records: it was run by the StatsPlease deterministic statistics engine, at the recorded engine version and date, and produced exactly the statistics shown above. The record is written once, when the analysis runs, and cannot be edited afterwards. If the numbers in a manuscript differ from the recorded values, the manuscript's numbers did not come from that analysis.
Reproducibility, not just provenance
StatsPlease's statistical engine is deterministic: the same data through the same engine version produces byte-for-byte identical results. Each record therefore also stores two SHA-256 fingerprints — one of the canonical results, one of the analyzed data columns. Re-running the analysis on the same data reproduces both fingerprints exactly, which lets an author demonstrate — without sharing the data — that a re-run reproduced the published numbers. What the record does not contain
No dataset rows, no cell values, and no author identity. The record holds summary statistics, variable names as analyzed, the engine version, the issue date, and the two fingerprints. Data never leaves the author's StatsPlease project.
For authors
Your verification code appears at the foot of every StatsPlease report, with a ready-to-paste citation line for the methods section. A typical citation reads: "Statistical analyses were performed with StatsPlease v6.2.0 (StatsPlease Limited, London, UK). Verification code SP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (https://statsplease.com/verify)."
